In addition to saving money, switching to an electric vehicle significantly helps preserve our environment. With lower emissions over its lifetime of use, the EV is a positive way to combat climate change.

What kind of money can I save?

The typical cost savings of operating an EV are substantial. Over the lifetime of your vehicle, you can save an average of 31% compared to the cost of maintaining a gas-powered vehicle. And with fewer parts and no internal combustion engine, you’ll save time and have fewer hassles, too. Plus, there are tax incentives to take advantage of that can save you even more. It’s a smart money move.

Is an EV truly better for the environment?

Yes! The upsides of electric vehicles are substantial — a medium-sized EV produces between 60% and 80% fewer greenhouse gas emissions over its lifetime than a gas-powered car.

On average, how many miles can I drive on a single charge?

Typically, a single charge can last from 100 to 400 miles, depending on the vehicle’s make and model. Most average around 300 miles, and a few top out at 400. The most affordable models get more than 250 miles per charge.

Is it hard to charge my EV?

No, charging is easy. At home, you simply plug it into a 220 and recharge overnight. For longer trips, you can count on the network of public charging stations. Currently, there are more than 148,000 charging points across 56,000 stations, and Ford has an app to help you find these locations.

How do I charge my EV at home?

A standard household outlet provides Level 1 charging. However, the fastest way to charge is a Level 2 outlet, which can be installed on the side of your home, in your garage, or at your parking place. This 240-volt plug gets wired into your regular power supply and is best installed by an electrician.

Where can I charge EV away from home?

You can charge your EV at public charging stations. Currently, there are nearly 150,000 charging outlets ready for your use. This can take anywhere from 1 to 10 hours, depending on the type of vehicle you drive and the voltage at any given station. Planning ahead is the name of the game.

What charging options do I have for my EV?

The charging options are either to charge at home with a normal electrical outlet, Level 1, or to install a Level 2 outlet for faster “fill-ups.” There are also charging stations nationwide for you to charge your vehicle.

Can I trust charging apps to be secure, accurate, and up-to-date?

Yes. Ford also has a useful app in partnership with Blue Oval, the largest coast-to-coast directory in the U.S.
